We have recently released a lo-fi version of our songs Everyday Heroes and Tower Hill. Big thanks to the City of Chicago and the Surfrider Chicago for letting us join the fight by sharing our song Hexavalent Chromium!

We just uploaded the first song from our upcoming EP. Please visit our music page on this site. We hope this song sheds some light on the need to protect our great lakes. Sending it to Erin Brockovitch now! More music coming soon.
New EP and Shows for 2019
by MCV
Apr 14, 2019

Thanks for coming to our page. We have been on a break for a while but are hitting it hard RN. We have new shows booked, and EP coming out this summer, and are really just ready to get out and rock, un-apologetically. We are tackling some big issues in this next round of songs like the polluting of the Great Lakes in 'Hexavalent Chromium', the loss of an entire family to a rip tide in 'Tower Hill', and how to keep reaching for the light when life can get dark and overwhelming. Join us on this journey, join us in the fight, mostly come dance with us at shows. See you soon!

Hey everyone. Just saying hi and we miss you. We have some fun things going on musically, and just doing a lot of writing. We've been working on a project being put together with our new publisher. That is all in our world, hope all is good in yours and hope you all keep on making music, art, dance, poems and everything that makes your soul soar.

Bio
Described by NPR Sound Opinions and Chicago Sun Times Rock Critic Jim DeRogatis as a rollicking, optimistic and relentlessly tuneful indie band, the Michigan City Vandals first gained notice when they donated 100% of the album profits from their first record 'Little Slice of Hell' to go toward building a Habitat for Humanity home in the state of Michigan. 18 months later, they released the 'Revolve' EP which took them on tour to regional college campuses, major Midwest cities and garnered them opening spots for Bowling for Soup, Hank III, Mute Math and the Avett Brothers. MCV returned with the release of ‘Back to Life’ and was picked by a panel that included Nirvana's Krist Novoselic to perform three shows at CBGB Fest in New York. MCV released their 4th studio album, the self titled, 'Michigan City Vandals' album and placed some of its songs on shows for HBO, The Oxygen Network, two motion pictures and used as intro music for a major cable news station. Thei The group, a collective helmed by singer, songwriter and bassist, Julee Laurent are releasing new songs consistently since Spring of 2019. No live shows are currently slated due to the COVID closures, but watch for shows and dates on our website or social media pages as soon as they are available.

"It’s hard to doubt the sincerity of the Michigan City Vandals, who proudly boast of being “post-ironic” and trumpet the slogan “The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.” Rollicking, optimistic and relentlessly tuneful, the Vandals' indie-pop songs take aim at Gen Y apathy and attempt to inspire it to action "
